Il Palazzo Mergulese-Montalto sorge in Via del Mergulense, nelle vicinanze di Piazza Archimede. Fu eretto nel 1397 - da un architetto rimasto sconosciuto - per volere della nobildonna Macciotta Mergulese. Nel Quattrocento, Costanza d'Aragona lo donò alla famiglia Montalto. Nel 1837, fu adibito a lazzaretto a seguito del colera e nel 1854.

The Palazzo Mergulense Montalto , located in the ancient Spirduta district, on the island of Ortigia , represents one of the most successful examples of clear mountain Gothic . < br> It was built by the will of the noble Macciotta Mergulense in 1397. In the 15th century the palace was donated by Queen Costanza of Aragon to the Montalto family.
